JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Korlantas Polri mengatakan, selama arus mudik Lebaran 2024, sebanyak 4.027 kendaraan terekam kamera tilang elektronik (ETLE) sudah melanggar ganjil genap.
Kakorlantas Polri Irjen Pol. Aan Suhanan menyampaikan, nantinya, surat tilang elektronik akan dikirim setelah 16 April 2024.
“Penerapan ganjil genap yang tercapture dari kamera pengawas terdapat 4.027 yang melanggar ganjil genap dan telah kita kirim surat konfirmasi setelah tanggal 16, ada 1.534 alamat yang telah kita kirim, serta ada lima yang sudah konfirmasi online,” kata Kakorlantas Polri, Kamis (11/4/2024) dikutip dari laman humas.polri.go.id.

Cara Cek Kena Tilang ETLE atau Tidak
Dikutip dari laman resmi ETLE Korlantas Polri, cara cek status kendaraan terkena tilang elektronik atau tidaknya sebagai berikut: Akses laman
1. https://etle-pmj.info/id/check-data Masukkan nomor plat kendaraan, nomor mesin, dan nomor rangka sesuai Surat Tanda Nomor Kendaraan (STNK) 2. Setelah memasukkan seluruh data tersebut, klik tombol "Cek Data" dan sistem akan mencari keterangan sesuai data yang diinputkan. 3. Nantinya, sistem akan memunculkan data kendaraan yang dimasukkan tersebut. Apabila tidak ada pelanggaran yang tercatat, maka akan muncul informasi "No data available". 4. Sementara itu, kendaraan yang tercatat sedang pelanggaran lalu lintas dan tertangkap kamera ETLE atau tilang elektronik, akan muncul catatan waktu, lokasi, tipe pelanggaran, dan status.
Pemilik kendaraan yang tercatat sedang pelanggaran lalu lintas akan memperoleh surat konfirmasi dari petugas, dan wajib melakukan konfirmasi.

Konfirmasi pelanggaran bisa dikerjakan secara online lewat laman resmi https://etle-korlantas.info/id/confirm, maksimal selama 8 hari dari terjadinya pelanggaran.
Pemilik kendaraan yang menambah melakukan konfirmasi pelanggarannya, maka bisa mengakibatkan pemblokiran STNK sementara.
Pembayaran denda tilang elektronik bisa dikerjakan melalui transfer bank yang tersedia dengan kode billing atau virtual account.
Terkait Herbi sanksi dari tilang elektronik, mengacu pada Undang-Undang Nomor 22 Tahun 2009 mengenai Lalu Lintas dan Angkutan Jalan (LLAJ).
Siapkan Rekayasa Lalu Lintas Arus Balik Lebaran 2024
Menjelang arus balik SeRisalah 2024 Korlantas Polri juga telah menyiapkan beberapa rekayasa lalu lintas dan pembatasan diantaranya Oneway, Contraflow, Ganjil Genap, Pembatasan kendaraan sumbu III dan Safety Car.
Aan menyampaikan akan melakukan oneway dari KM 414 Gate Tol Kalikangkung hingga KM 72 Tol jakarta – Cikampek dan dilanjutkan rekayasa berupa contraflow hingga KM 47.

“Kemudian buat rekayasa lalu lintas yang akan kita lakukan pada saat arus balik oneway dari KM 414 Kalikangkung sampai Herbi KM 72 Jakarta – Cikampek setelah itu kita sedang contra flow sampai dengan KM 47,” kata Kakorlantas Polri di Kantor Jasa Marga KM 70, Kamis (11/4/2024)
Untuk penerapan ganjil genap tapi diberlakukan saat arus balik, serta pembatasan operasional sumbu III ke atas juga akan diterapkan.
“Pembatasan barang juga tapi akan kita lakukan sampai dengan tanggal 16 kemudian ganjil genap juga akan dikerjakan pada saat arus balik,” ungkapnya.
Lebaran terus jadi momen untuk berkumpul bersama keluarga tak terkecuali bagi para pemain PSIS Semarang. Kesempatan ini dimanfaatkan para penggawa tim berjuluk Mahesa Jenar bagi bertemu kerabat atau sekadar liburan bersama keluarga di momen Idul Fitri ini.
Seperti yang dirasakan Gian Zola, ia mengaku Lebaran tahun ini cukup berbeda lantaran kembali bisa Ikut merasakan mudik. Diketahui, Zola melakukan perjalanan mudik ke Bandung.
"Kan telah merantau berapa kali, sekarang bisa merasakan mudik lagi, kalau dulu di Persib ya Ramadan di Bandung saja, sekarang ikutan mudik SeRisalah. Kemarin di Arema kan main di PTIK di sana bolak balik Bandung DKI Jakarta, kalau di Semarang jarang pulang," kata Zola dalam keterangan yang diterima detikJateng, Jumat (12/4/2024).

Lebih lanjut, Zola menceritakan pengalamannya selama libur Lebaran. Ia dan keluarga Berlebihan sering menghabiskan waktu untuk berkunjung ke rumah saudaranya.
"Alhamdulillah Lebaran Perkumpulan semua, saya, Beckham (pemain Persib), kakak, bapak ibu Perkumpulan makan ketupat opor, itu udah pasti tiap Lebaran, terus ke Rongga di bawah rumah saudara, ziarah juga," tambahnya.
Hal yang sama juga diungkapkan pemain PSIS lainnya, Riyan Ardiansyah, yang mengaku Lebaran selalu jadi kesempatan bagi silaturahmi dengan keluarga besar. Tahun ini, Lebaran terasa spesial bagi Riyan karena baru dikaruniai seorang putra pada Februari 2024 lalu.
"Alhamdulillah mas, sekarang ada si kecil (anak), kalau lebaran pertama ke Pati mas, keluarga besar di sana segala satu kampung. Ziarah ke makam ibu, baru Lebaran kedua ke Semarang," kata Riyan.
Dalam kesempatan ini, Riyan juga terus meminta doa kepada keluarga besar agar diberi kelancaran selama bertanding bersama PSIS.
"Ya doanya Belum pasti diberi sehat biar bisa bertemu lebaran tahun depan. Juga semoga konsisten bisa bermain di liga 1 bisa memberikan yang terbaik buat PSIS," jelasnya.
Namun, kebersamaan Zola dan Riyan bersama keluarga pada Lebaran tahun ini cukup singkat. Mereka harus segera kembali ke Semarang untuk melakukan persiapan menghadapi pelan ke-31 Liga 1 2023/2024 melawan PSM Makassar.
Diketahui, PSIS Semarang akan bertandang ke kandang PSM Makassar pada Selasa (16/4/2024), pukul 19.00 WIB.

Club : Le Paris Basketball triomphe, le PSG Basket à l'arrêt ?
Le Paris Basketball a remporté ce vendredi soir à Bourg-en-Bresse son premier titre européen avec une victoire en EuroCoupe, l'équivalent de l'Europa League du basketball européen. Un sacré succès pour le jeune club parisien, qui fait écho au projet, régulièrement évoqué et semble-t-il mort-né, d'un retour du PSG Basket.
Il y a au moins un club parisien qui a réussi sa semaine européenne et il ne s'agit pas du PSG, mais bien du Paris Basketball. Le club fondé en 2018 par deux actionnaires américains a remporté ce vendredi soir la deuxième manche de la finale de l'EuroCoupe, une des coupes européennes mineures du basket-ball européen dans l'ombre de la toute-puissante Euroligue pour laquelle il s'est au passage qualifié grâce à cette victoire.
Quelques années à peine après sa création, et alors qu'il vient tout juste d'inaugurer sa Adidas Arena dans le nord de Paris, le club parisien confirme sa montée en puissance progressive, sur les parquets comme en dehors. Ce triomphe européen n'a pas (encore) été félicité par le PSG, club omnisports numéro 1 de la région avec ses sections football, handball, judo et même eSport, masculine et féminine pour la plupart au passage.
QSI arrive, la rumeur du PSG Basket revient
Et à l'heure de ce sacre européen, nombreux sont les supporters parisiens qui s'interrogent sur le possible retour du PSG Basket, vestige du PSG Omnisports à la sauce Canal+ qui a existé de 1992 à 2000 avant de disparaître une fois le départ de Charles Biétry de la présidence du PSG Omnisports de l'époque. En 1997, celui qui est alors nommé PSG Racing Basket était même allé jusqu'à au titre de champion de France avant d'accompagner le début de carrière d'un certain Tony Parker.
Dans la foulée du rachat du PSG par QSI à l'été 2011, l'idée d'un PSG Omnisports refait surface et se matérialise en 2012 par le rachat du Paris Handball, renommé PSG Handball dans la foulée. Des rumeurs autour du grand retour du PSG Basket voient alors le jour à la même époque et reviennent régulièrement. Mais elles sont toujours restées au rang de rumeurs et la dernière date même de 2016 désormais, soit il y a près de huit ans. À cet instant, l'idée semble même enfouie tout au fond des cartons.
Le Paris Basket en concurrent du PSG, quid des Mets 92 ?
Au moment de l'inauguration de l'Adidas Arena en février dernier, le patron du Paris Basketball David Kahn confiait même à la presse présente son intention de faire de son club « le deuxième club de Paris derrière le PSG ». Pas vraiment une déclaration d'une personne prête à revendre son bébé au PSG, surtout quand le même David Kahn assure être là sur le long terme. Avec son compatriote et financier Eric Schwartz, les deux hommmes ont déjà investi 25M€ et leurs résultats sportifs leur donnent raison.
En Île-de-France, il existe toutefois un autre club de basket figurant au meilleur échelon national avec les Metropolitans 92, très performants l'an dernier avec Victor Wembanyama mais d'ores et déjà condamné à une descente en deuxième division, en plus relativement proche du dépôt de bilan pour des raisons financières selon des échos récurrents autour du club.
Mais, pour que le PSG, et surtout QSI, se penche sur ce club, il va falloir beaucoup de compromis des deux côtés. En 2013, il y avait eu des rumeurs des négociations entre le PSG et le Paris-Levallois, son nom de l'époque. Le président du PL Jean-Pierre Aubry reconnaît même un dossier en vue d'un partenariat mais deux problèmes apparaissent vite : la salle dans laquelle jouée, celle du PL étant trop petite et Bercy bientôt en travaux.
L'autre souci était... les élections à Levallois-Perret. Patrick Balkany y sera réélu et refusera alors catégoriquement toutes négociations avec QSI. La mairie a changé depuis mais l'élue Agnès Pottier-Dumas s'est présentée comme dans la continuité de son précédesseur, malgré des tensions entre les deux en cours de campagne. S'il a changé de nom et s'est rapproché de Boulogne-Billancourt, le Paris Levallois devenu Metropolitans 92 évolue toujours à Levallois et son siège y est également toujours.
Côté QSI, on avait indiqué à l'époque au président du Paris Levallois ne pas être spécialement intéressé par le basket au final et rien n'indique que cette position n'a changé depuis. Pour imaginer le PSG Basket (re)prendre vie, il va donc falloir que les astres s'alignent sacrément vu à quel point ils sont actuellement éloignés.

1. Dapur
Kamu harus membersihkan dapur terlebih dahulu karena bagian ini digunakan buat mempersiapkan makanan. Kamu bisa membuang sisa makanan yang ada agar menambah mengundang serangga maupun tikus.
2. Kulkas
Periksa makanan basi yang ada di kulkas dan Deportasi jika ada. Pastikan bahan makanan di kulkas tidak berjamur atau berlendir dan masih layak buat dimakan.

But why does Israel keep launching air strikes on a sovereign country and what will happen next?
When did the attacks start?
The Israeli military has been assaulting Syria for more than a decade, taking advantage of the country’s chaos following its civil war that started in 2011.
The war has largely ended, and years of Iranian and Russian support for the rule of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have left him in power over most of the country.
But Syria remains torn, with various factions controlling different parts of the country, which provides Israel with an opportunity to launch air strikes.
As the Western-sanctioned al-Assad government is faced with US-backed Kurdish forces, opposition forces, Turkish military operations in the north, and ISIL (ISIS), Israel often uses the occupied Golan Heights to launch attacks on Syria and Lebanon – with the Assad regime unable to stop it.
The attacks have only intensified since 2017 – almost becoming a weekly occurrence – to target rising Iranian and Hezbollah presence and influence in Syria.
Iran, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Syria are allied against Israel and its key military and financial backer, the United States, along with armed and political groups in Iraq and Yemen in a so-called “axis of resistance”.
Why were the latest attacks important?
Israel has launched two of its largest and deadliest strikes ever against Syria in the past week.
It has significantly increased the frequency and intensity of its attacks since the start of its brutal war on Gaza, freely targeting Iran and its ally Hezbollah in Syria, especially around the capital, Damascus, where there is a stronger presence.
Monday’s air strike completely levelled the building of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, killing seven members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including two generals who led the elite Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi was a key link between the IRGC and Hezbollah, having operated with Hezbollah leaders like Hassan Nasrallah and Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated by Israel, for decades.
This was the highest-ranked assassination since Quds Force commander Major General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated by the US in Iraq in January 2020.
The blow to the IRGC comes after its interests were repeatedly hit in Syria, with a strike in late December killing Razi Mousavi, another top Quds Force commander in Syria.
Just days before the attack on the Iranian consulate, the Israeli military had launched massive strikes on Syria’s northern province of Aleppo, killing at least 40 people, most of them soldiers. The strikes appeared to hit a weapons depot, resulting in a series of explosions that also killed six Hezbollah fighters.
Will there be more attacks on Syria?
Ramped-up Israeli air attacks on Syria are expected to continue as the war on Gaza – the current main driver of significantly heightened conflicts across the region – shows no immediate signs of stopping despite the deaths of more than 33,000 Palestinians and international condemnation.
Air defences deployed by the Syrian military engage and intercept some of the attacks on the country, but fail to stop them completely. Russia has strongly condemned the latest Israeli air attacks but has not moved against them.
Aron Lund, a fellow at US-based think tank Century International, says the bolder Israeli attacks are to some degree a response to likely increased Iranian arms deliveries to Hezbollah via Syria.
“But I think more generally it reflects the Israelis taking the gloves off and putting a lot more effort into degrading Hezbollah and Iran’s logistics,” he told Al Jazeera.
“The attack on the Iranian consulate is part of that pattern of more aggressive Israeli targeting.”
Will there be a wider conflict?
Tehran is now under pressure to respond to the latest Israeli attack, but it seeks to balance that with its stated desire to refrain from expanding the war on Gaza across the region.
Lund said an Iranian response could range from hitting an Israeli-linked ship or attacks in Iraq’s Kurdish region to targeting Israeli diplomatic missions abroad or more attacks by the resistance axis on Israeli territory – not to mention a direct attack on Israel.
“But there are limits to how much damage Iran can do to Israel without using tools that could upset the balance of the conflict, invite Israeli counter-escalation, and risk a slide into a wider conflict,” he said.
For instance, a direct attack on Israel by Iran would likely prompt an Israeli attack on Iranian soil, while an escalation through Hezbollah could compound the risks of a regional war, Lund said.
“Iran may also start to put more pressure on US troops in the region, as they have done in the past. It would be a way to do something visible and to incentivise US efforts to restrain Israel. But there are limits to how far they’ll want to go against the Americans,” he said, pointing to attacks on US interests dying down after a major escalation in February.
Yet, Julien Barnes-Dacey, director of the Middle East and North Africa programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations, said the Israeli escalation will make it difficult for Tehran to refrain from more serious retaliation.
“Over recent months, we’ve seen an Iranian desire to keep the situation in check and prevent a broader unravelling and conflict, but Tehran may now feel compelled to respond more forcefully to defend the credibility of its deterrence posture,” he told Al Jazeera.
“Iran is unlikely to put much credence in Western public statements condemning the attack given continued strong backing for Israel, including through the ongoing provision of weaponry that Israel is using in Gaza and the region.”

Polda Kepri mencatat sebanyak 28 kecelakaan lalu lintas saat masa arus mudik SeRisalah 2024 pada 4-12 April 2024. Dari data yang ada, sebanyak 5 orang meninggal dunia.
Dirlantas Polda Kepri, Kombes Tri Yulianto, menyebut data kecelakaan tersebut dihimpun posko operasi ketupat Seligi 2024. Puluhan kecelakaan tersebut terjadi di sejumlah wilayah di Kepri.
"Data kecelakaan selama Operasi Ketupat Seligi 2024 dari tanggal 4-12 April 2024 sebanyak 28 kecelakaan. Dengan rincian 5 korban meninggal dunia," kata Kombes Tri, Jumat (12/4/2024).

Tri menyebut, akibat puluhan kecelakaan itu kerugian material diperkirakan mencapai Rp 34 juta. Selain itu tercatat puluhan orang mengalami luka ringan hingga berat.
"Untuk kerugian material mencapai Rp 34,2 juta rupiah. Ada juga 11 orang korban luka berat dan 24 orang luka ringan," ujarnya
Tri menyampaikan, kecelakaan lalu lintas terbanyak terjadi di Kota Batam Berhubungan dengan jumlah 19 kasus. Kedua disusul kejadian di Bintan Berhubungan dengan total 4 kasus.
"Kemudian Natuna ada 3 kasus kecelakaan, lalu Karimun ada 2 kasus, dan Tanjungpinang 1 masalah kecelakaan," ujarnya.
Angka kecelakaan lalu lintas ini jika dilihat secara kuantitas sama Berhubungan dengan tahun 2023. Namun secara jumlah korban turun jika dibandingkan Berhubungan dengan tahun lalu.
"Pada tahun 2023 terdapat 28 kejadian Berhubungan dengan 51 orang korban. Rinciannya, jumlah korban yang meninggal dunia lima orang dan mengalami luka berat 11 orang. Sementara korban yang luka ringan berjumlah 35 orang," ujarnya.
"Beberapa faktor yang mendominasi terjadinya laka lantas diantaranya dikarenakan faktor pengendara yang melebihi Restriksi kecepatan atau melaju dengan kecepatan tinggi. Kami mengimbau agar pengendara tidak mengurangi berkendara di atas batas kecepatan dan selalu gunakan alat keselamatan saat berkendara bagi menghindari hal yang tidak diinginkan," tambahnya.

‘Treating people like adults’: Ford dismisses raising drinking age to 21 in Ontario
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he disagrees with alcohol-related recommendations from the province’s top doctor, particularly raising the legal drinking age by two years.
In his annual report, Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, recommended adding new restrictions to legal substances like alcohol and vapes, while also looking at decriminalizing personal possession and use of illegal drugs.
The report, released at the end of March, called for warning labels on alcoholic drinks outlining the risks of drinking, including cancer. It suggested the idea of increasing the legal drinking age from 19 to 21 should also be on the table.
Asked about the recommendation on Wednesday, Ford praised his chief medical officer but said he disagreed with the suggestion.
“He has his opinion, we have ours. We believe in treating people like adults,” Ford said.

The province is currently expanding access to alcohol through plans to allow the sale of beer, wine and mixed drinks at convenience and grocery stores. From 2026 onwards, the government has promised alcohol will be available outside the Beer Store, Winerack and LCBO stores, although the latter will continue its monopoly in spirits.
“Right across the world, you get to go into a retail store, a big box store and buy a bottle of wine with your steak, maybe a six-pack of beer,” Ford continued Wednesday. “That’s what we believe in.”
In his annual report, Moore worried about a “disturbing trend” of binge drinking and vaping — including cannabis products — among Ontario youth.
The report, citing recently released data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information, found 33 per cent of adults said they used cannabis in 2020, an eight per cent increase from 2019. And when it released its cannabis survey in 2022, Health Canada reported the number of Ontarians who died of alcohol toxicity rose 16 per cent between 2018 and 2021.
“We have also seen concerning changes in substance use patterns and harms more broadly, including higher rates of vaping among non-smokers, increased unintentional poisonings in children from cannabis ingestion, and an ongoing high burden of hospitalizations and cancers caused by alcohol,” Moore said in the report.
However, Ford suggested the fact 19-year-olds can join the Canadian Armed Forces meant they should be allowed to drink alcohol.

“We support Dr. Moore and the job he’s doing. Do we disagree? Yes, we disagree,” the premier said. “I disagree with raising the age to 21. One of my principles is: these young people put a uniform on and go fight for freedom… and they can’t go back later and have a beer. That doesn’t cut it, that was one of my principles.”
People aged 17 can enlist with the armed forces with parental permission, while 18-year-olds are allowed to join without permission from a guardian.
Moore’s report also recommended a more liberal attitude to illegal drugs to allow for safer supply and reduce overdose deaths in the province.
Calling opioid overdose deaths “preventable,” Moore suggested attacking the issue on multiple fronts, including safe supply, to help deal with overdose deaths. He said roughly 2,500 people die of overdoses annually.
“We want pathways for people who need treatment with addiction issues,” Minister of Health Sylvi Jones said on Wednesday. “We have to let Ontarians be adults, just as we see in other Canadian jurisdictions and I think there is a better way than legalizing drugs and opioids in particular.”
In a lengthy statement released after Moore’s report was published, Jones’ office said the government was “not exploring” the expert recommendations.
“Recommendations to restrict legal substances while decriminalizing hard drugs are inconsistent and ignore the unintended consequences and significant public safety concerns experienced by other jurisdictions that have implemented similar proposals,” a spokesperson for Jones said.

A constable with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) has been charged after his firearm was allegedly found at a crime scene in Brampton where shots had been fired.
In a news release on Thursday, TPS said the charges stem from an investigation by Peel Regional Police (PRP) into the incident that occurred on Dec. 9, 2023, at a business near Rutherford Road South and Clark Boulevard.
According to PRP, two suspects arrived in the area, and one brandished a gun and fired multiple rounds into the business. No injuries were reported.
Shortly after, officers responded and caught one of the suspects. They also recovered two firearms, a loaded magazine and ammunition.

The suspect, a 23-year-old man from B.C., was charged with several offences. PRP said the second suspect remains at large and that they believe he has left the country.
During the course of the investigation, PRP discovered that one of the firearms they seized was registered to 51-year-old Const. Frederick Teatero, TPS alleges.
The firearm was allegedly never reported missing or stolen.
A search warrant was executed at the officer’s home in Hamilton, resulting in the seizure of an overcapacity magazine and twenty registered firearms that were allegedly stored carelessly.
On Thursday, TPS announced that Teatero was arrested and charged with failure to report, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and two counts of careless storage of a firearm.
The constable, who has been with the force for 21 years and is currently assigned to 14 Division, has been suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act.
He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on May 17.

The Canadian unemployment rate jumped up to 6.1 per cent in March amid rapid growth in the labour pool, Statistics Canada said Friday.
Canadian employers collectively shed 2,200 jobs last month but employment was little changed in the month, the agency said.
Canada’s unemployment rate was 5.8 per cent in February.
The spike in the unemployment rate – a full percentage point higher than where it stood a year ago – is tied to an additional 60,000 people looking for work or on temporary layoff in March, StatCan said. Last month the agency reported that, as of Jan. 1, Canada’s annual population growth hit its fastest rate since 1957.

The consensus of economist expectations called for 25,000 jobs gained last month and a more modest increase in the unemployment rate to 5.9 per cent.

StatCan said the food and accommodation services, wholesale and retail trade, and professional, scientific and technical industries led job losses in the month, offset by gains in healthcare and social assistance.
Average hourly wages were up 5.1 per cent year-over-year, a slight acceleration from 5.0 per cent in February.
The latest employment data comes days before the Bank of Canada’s next interest rate announcement, which is set for April 10.
The central bank has been looking for signs that the labour market is cooling, and by extension taking some steam out of inflation, as it debates how long to keep interest rates elevated.
BMO chief economist Doug Porter said in a note to clients on Wednesday that while the rising unemployment rate suggests a slackening in the labour market, still-hot wage growth puts the Bank of Canada in a “tricky spot.”

“With productivity barely moving, these (five per cent) gains will feed right into costs and threaten to keep inflation sticky,” he wrote.
Inflation has also surprised economists with softer than expected reports for two months in a row, most recently cooling to 2.8 per cent annually in February. Real gross domestic product data has meanwhile come in hotter than anticipated to start 2024, suggesting the economy is holding up under the weight of higher interest rates.

But economists weighing in on Friday said that the weak job report, which noted a tick down in total hours worked for March, could be a sign that Canada’s economy is set for a more pronounced slowdown.

TD Bank senior economist James Orlando said in a note that the March jobs report “casts a cloud over the Canadian economy.”

To date, the Bank of Canada’s decision to be patient on its pivot to rate cuts has been validated by relatively strong economic results, he said, giving the central bank “extra time” to ensure inflation cools back to its two per cent target. But a weak jobs report might challenge that approach.
“This throws some cold water on expectations that the recent string of hot economic data prints to start 2024 will be sustained,” he wrote.
CIBC senior economist Andrew Grantham said in a note Friday that the “cracks that had been emerging within the Canadian labour market suddenly got a lot wider.”
While strong GDP data had pushed markets to expect policy rate cuts from the Bank of Canada to begin in July, Grantham said the weaker than expected jobs report should affirm CIBC’s call for a decrease in June.
Porter also said that a June rate cut is “looking a bit more likely now.” He said that the Bank of Canada could sound more “dovish” – opening the door to rate cuts in the future – at its April 10 decision.

Grantham said the expected economic softening in the second quarter of the year will continue to drive up the unemployment rate, which he expects to peak close to 6.5 per cent.
“However, interest rate cuts starting in June should bring a reacceleration in growth, which will help to stabilise the labour market in the second half of the year and into 2025.”

Menko PMK: Kapal dari Merak ke Bakauheni Hanya Turunkan Penumpang, dan Balik untuk Angkut
KEMENKO PMK -- Menteri Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy menjelaskan, pada puncak arus mudik Lebaran 2024, pemerintah menetapkan kebijakan agar Perahu dari Pelabuhan Merak ke Pelabuhan Bakauheni yang membawa penumpang, juga dapat mengangkut penumpang saat kembali ke Pelabuhan Merak
Hal tersebut disampaikan Menko Muhadjir usai melaksanakan Rapat Koordinasi Angkutan Lebaran Tahun 2024 di Dermaga Eksekutif Pelabuhan Merak, Cilegon, Banten, pada Minggu (7/4/2024).
"Jadi kita akan mengambil kebijakan, kapal dari Merak ke Bakauheni hanya nge-drop penumpang dan segera kembali ke Merak untuk mengangkut penumpang. Sementara, untuk Perahu yang bongkar dan muat hanya di Pelabuhan Ciwandan atau Pelabuhan Pajang," ujar Menko Muhadjir.
Selain kebijakan menurunkan dan mengangkut penumpang di pelabuhan Merak, pemerintah juga melakukan sistem buka tutup jalan untuk masuk ke pelabuhan Merak. Delaying system ini, dimaksudkan untuk mencegah terjadinya penumpukan kendaraan yang akan masuk ke Pelabuhan Merak.
"Karena itu kalau kita menunjukkan antrian di jalan tol. Ada yang kita delay, kita tahan itu agar tidak mengurangi terjadi kepadatan yang dapat menyebabkan ketidaknyamanan para pemudik," Penjelasan terperinci Menko Muhadjir.
Saat melakukan pemantauan di Dermaga Eksekutif Pelabuhan Merak, Menko Muhadjir juga menyempatkan berinteraksi dengan para pemudik yang tengah menunggu kapal ferry bagi menyeberang ke Pelabuhan Bakauheni. Menko PMK menyapa mereka dan menanyakan perasaan dan pengalaman selama menunggu pemberangkatan dan hal lainnya.
Selain di Pelabuhan Merak, Menko PMK juga mengecek arus mudik di Pelabuhan Ciwandan. Sebagaimana diketahui, Pelabuhan Ciwandan merupakan pelabuhan yang dikhususkan bagi pemudik yang menyeberang dengan angkutan sepeda motor. Tampak antrean ribuan pemudik ProPenganjur sudah memadati dermaga sejak dini hari.
Setelah mendapat laporan dari Korlantas, Kemenhub, ASDP dan pihak terkait lainnya serta meninjau secara segera, Menko PMK menegaskan bahwa penanganan penyeberangan laut pada arus mudik SeRisalah 2024 berjalan cukup baik. Menurutnya, penanganan yang dilakukan oleh segala pihak terkait telah sukses dan berhasil melancarkan arus mudik.
"Oleh sebab itu, saya selaku Menteri Koordinator yang mendapatkan tugas dari Pak Kepala Negara untuk mengkoordinasikan kegiatan mudik tahun 2024 mengucapkan terima kasih pada segala pihak yang telah bekerja keras mensukseskan kegiatan ini, termasuk teman-teman media, karena banyak kebijakan yang kita ambil berdasar pemberitaan mefia," jelasnya.
Dalam kesempatan peninjauan tersebut, Menko PMK didampingi Deputi Warsito dan Asdep Thomas Siregar. Michal Popek, 44, was handed a 12-year prison sentence in November 2020 for sexually assaulting four women who were strangers to him – including two women walking on Burnaby trails in broad daylight in February and March of 2016.
A man whose crimes a judge has called "every woman's worst nightmare" has been released from prison and is living in Surrey.
Michal Popek, 44, was handed a 12-year prison sentence in November 2020 for sexually assaulting four women who were strangers to him – including two women walking on Burnaby trails in broad daylight in February and March of 2016.
He has now been granted a "one chance statutory release" ahead of the end of that sentence in December 2025, according to Surrey RCMP.
The detachment put out a news release Thursday to inform the public that a "dangerous sex offender" who "poses a risk to adolescent girls and adult women, including strangers," is living in the community.
Popek, who will be monitored by correctional services and Surrey RCMP through "traditional police methods" as well as electronic monitoring, is bound by multiple conditions:
A 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew
Not to consume, purchase or possess alcohol
Not to consume, purchase or possess drugs other than prescribed medication taken as prescribed and over the counter drugs taken as recommended by the manufacturer
Not to attend any business where the primary source of income is derived from the sale of alcohol
Not to attend any business where the primary source of income is derived from the sale of cannabis
Not to be in the company of sex trade workers/escorts
Popek is 5-foot-5, weighs 150 pounds and has a medium complexion, brown eyes and short brown hair.
Anyone who sees or knows of Popek violating any of the conditions is asked to call 911 immediately.
After the end of his prison term in December 2025, Popek will be bound by a 10-year long-term supervision order.
'Violent and horrific'
Popek was sentenced after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual assault for attacks on strangers between March 2015 and April 2016.
One of those assaults, on a 17-year-old girl, lasted for 40 minutes, according to court documents.
The girl had been on her school lunch break, walking on the Burnaby Mountain Urban Trail on Feb. 18, 2016.
She couldn't find her friends in the usual spot and started to retrace her steps.
She had seen Popek a few minutes earlier and saw him again.
The second time, he grabbed her by the waist and threw her to the ground.
"She attempted to punch him, but her attempt was futile," states a sentencing ruling on the case.
In the second Burnaby attack 17 days later (on March 6, 2016), Popek grabbed a 20-year-old woman from behind and threw her to the ground.
The woman had been walking on the Trans Mountain Trail north of the Meadowood Park area listening to music on her headphones.
"She fought back with her umbrella and tried to scratch him," states the ruling. "She told him she had cancer. He paused only very briefly and then continued in his attempt to remove her pants."
Popek ran off when a man walking the trail interrupted his attack.
Police task force
Popek's attacks happened amid a string of sexual assaults in Burnaby in early 2016, and the Burnaby RCMP – which struck a task force to find the perpetrator – warned women not to walk alone, especially in the area around the Burnaby Mountain Urban Trail.
Popek was finally caught in Vancouver on April 19, 2016 after another sexual assault in broad daylight.
He had broken into an 84-year-old woman's home at about 8:15 a.m. and opened her bedroom door while she was in bed.
When she called out to her son who lived in the basement, Popek left.
Outside, he knocked his final victim, a 54-year-old woman taking pictures of flowers along the street, to the ground and groped her, trying to pull down her pants. She hit him in the face with her camera.
A Good Samaritan ran to help, and Popek ran away, but this time the police caught up to him.
"All of the crimes were serious; all were violent," said B.C. provincial court Judge Ellen Gordon in a November 2020 sentencing ruling. "While sexual assaults of strangers on the street are exceptionally rare, they are every woman's worst nightmare, and there are four women here for whom that nightmare became a reality."

«Il va subir des examens complémentaires. Ce n’est pas bon signe. Nous espérons qu’il ne sera pas absent pendant plusieurs mois», a expliqué le directeur sportif, Christoph Freund, à propos de sa blessure. Mais cela semble bien plus grave que cela. Selon les informations de Sky Sports Allemagne, Kingsley Coman devrait être absent jusqu’à 5 à 6 semaines et manquera donc toute la fin de la saison avec le Bayern Munich. Mais ce n’est pas tout, puisque le média allemand précise que l’international français est d’ores et déjà incertain pour l’Euro 2024, alors que Didier Deschamps devra communiquer sa liste définitive à l’UEFA, le 7 juin prochain.

NATO secretary-general gives U.S. message on Ukraine as alliance marks its 75th anniversary

NATO marked on Thursday 75 years of collective defence across Europe and North America, with its top diplomats vowing to stay the course in Ukraine as better-armed Russian troops assert control on the battlefield.
The anniversary comes as the now-32-nation alliance weighs a plan to provide more predictable longer-term military support to Ukraine. Plagued by ammunition shortages, Ukraine this week lowered the military conscription age from 27 to 25 in an effort to replenish its depleted ranks and appealed for additional aid defences to counter increasing Russian ballistic missile attacks.
“I didn’t want to spoil the birthday party for NATO, but I felt compelled to deliver a sobering message on behalf of Ukrainians about the state of Russian air attacks on my country, destroying our energy system, our economy, killing civilians,” said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who attended a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council.
Kuleba thanked the allies for agreeing to begin identifying Patriot missile battery stocks that could be sent to Ukraine. The Patriot “is the only system that effectively intercepts ballistic missiles,” he said.
NATO foreign ministers celebrated the 75th anniversary of their alliance on Thursday (April 4) with flags, cake and marching bands, while its secretary general reminded the United States that it needed its allies more than ever as the Ukraine war enters its third year. Rachel Judah has more.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, speaking before meeting with Kuleba, said that “support for Ukraine, the determination of every country represented here at NATO, remains rock solid.”
“We will do everything we can, allies will do everything that they can, to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to continue to deal with Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, aggression that is getting worse with every passing day,” he said.
“The fight that Ukraine has on its hands is not only Ukraine’s fight, it’s everyone’s fight because the aggression being committed by Russia is not only an aggression against Ukraine and its people, it’s an aggression against the very principles that lie at the heart of the international system,” Blinken said.
The Ukraine meeting, which ran significantly beyond its scheduled time, was held after a ceremony to mark the day NATO’s founding treaty was signed: April 4, 1949, in Washington. A bigger celebration is planned when NATO leaders meet in Washington from July 9 to 11.
Hundreds of staffers filled the vast air terminal-like space at the centre of NATO’s sprawling Brussels headquarters, while scores of others looked down from glassed walkways and stairways as Belgian and Dutch military bands played the NATO Hymn, the original Washington Treaty laid before them.
“I like the Washington Treaty. Not least because it is very short,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said with a smile. “Just 14 paragraphs over a few pages. Never has a single document with so few words meant so much to so many people. So much security. So much prosperity, and so much peace.”
Outside Brussels on Wednesday evening, Blinken had paid tribute “to the millions of soldiers, sailors, and aviators whose courage and willingness to put their lives on the line have given weight to our sacred commitment to defend one another.”
Blinken said that even as foreign ministers mark more than seven decades of peace, “that security – together with the Alliance’s core principles of democracy, liberty, and the rule of law – is once again being threatened by those who believe that might makes right and who seek to redraw borders by force.”
Sweden’s foreign minister, Tobias Billstrm, was taking part in the first ministerial-level meeting since his country became NATO’s 32nd ally last month. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 drove Sweden and Finland into NATO’s arms.
“NATO represents the freedom to choose,” Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said, reflecting on the way the Nordic neighbours recently joined. “Democratic nations, free people chose to join. Unlike how Russia expands by aggression or by illegal annexation.”
President Vladimir Putin said he launched the war, in part at least, because NATO was expanding closer to Russia’s borders.
The alliance’s ranks have almost tripled from its 12 founding members, but Finland and Sweden joined in record time to shelter under NATO’s collective security guarantee.
That promise – Article 5 of the Washington Treaty – stipulates that an attack on any one of their number must be met with a united response. It’s only ever been used once, after the al-Qaeda attacks on U.S. soil in 2001.
Among the more recent successes as it grew from the Cold War and after the Berlin Wall collapsed, NATO would count its 1999 air campaign against former Yugoslavia to end a bloody crackdown on separatist ethnic Albanians and its effort to avert near civil war in Macedonia in 2001.
At the other end of the scale lies the operation in Afghanistan. NATO took command of the security effort in 2003 and it became the longest, costliest and deadliest in alliance history. It was marked by a chaotic retreat in August 2021, many of the successes over almost two decades abandoned.
Today, Ukraine also wants a seat at NATO’s table, but the alliance works on unanimity and there is no consensus on whether it should join. Most allies oppose membership while war rages on anyway. For now, NATO promises only that its door is open for Ukraine in the future.
NATO allies cannot agree on whether to arm Ukraine either. As an organization, the alliance only provides non-lethal support like transport vehicles, fuel, combat rations, medical supplies and demining equipment. However, many members provide arms and ammunition bilaterally or in groups.
The bulk of NATO’s efforts since Russian troops began massing for the invasion has focused on reinforcing its own borders near Russia and Ukraine to dissuade Putin from targeting any of the allies next.
Article 5 was given perhaps its toughest test during Donald Trump’s term as president of the United States – by far NATO’s most powerful member country. Trump suggested the U.S. might not defend any NATO ally that failed to boost their own defence spending to at least 2% of gross domestic product, as all had agreed to do in 2014.
Trump has repeated the threat during election campaigning this year. NATO predicts that 18 of its 32 members will reach that target this year, up from only 3 a decade ago.
A nighttime Russian attack using Iranian-designed drones killed four people and wounded 12 in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, local authorities said. Shahed drones smashed into two apartment buildings in the city near the Russian border that has frequently been targeted during more than two years of war.

"C'est dur. On mettait beaucoup d'espoir sur ce match, je pense qu'on l'avait bien préparé, s'est désespéré Maxime Lamothe après la rencontre au micro de France 2, les yeux dans le vague. Malheureusement, on n'est pas sorti des vestiaires." Le talonneur bordelais n'avait pas oublié les 10 premières minutes de ce quart de finale de Champions Cup, celles que son équipe aurait pu reléguer aux oubliettes à 1 minuscule point près, mais qui ont rejailli comme une évidence au moment de dresser le terrible bilan.
Un match sur deux, on ne joue pas à notre meilleur niveau
Dès les premiers instants du match, l'Anglais Lewis Cunningham-South a multiplié les avancées ballon en main pour les Quins, donnant le ton de ce qui allait être une inénarrable rencontre face à une défense bordelaise au ralenti. Son numéro 9 Will Porter a donc foncé dans l'en-but au bout de la 3e minute. Une piqûre qui n'a pas suffi aux Girondins, très brouillons dans leurs lancements de jeu. Il en a fallu une seconde, à la 9e minute, lorsque Matéo Garcia s'est sacrifié en coupant une passe anglaise qui aurait pour sûr mené à un nouvel essai. Vain sacrifice : carton jaune pour l'ouvreur, qui n'a jamais plus sorti la tête de l'eau dans la rencontre, et essai de pénalité. 0-14, à 14 contre 15 après 10 minutes de jeu.

A partir de là, la magie a pris, pourtant. Maxime Lucu a sonné la révolte, Romain Buros et Louis Bielle-Biarrey ont couru dans tous les sens et surtout dans l'en-but anglais, et l'UBB a grappillé point par point. Jusqu'à même passer devant une première fois à 10 minutes du terme, avant d'échouer devant un public rendu aphone. "Il nous a manqué de bien rentrer dans le match. C'est ce qui nous met dans le dur, on a couru après le score tout le match, a déploré Romain Buros devant beIN Sports. C'est bien qu'on ait réussi à revenir, mais malheureusement, on échoue à un point, et c'est dur."
Coutumière du fait depuis le début de la saison, l'Union a offert un vibrant spectacle, grâce à une attaque toujours aussi incisive. Mais elle a payé au prix fort les erreurs qui collent encore à son jeu, et qui l'empêchent de gravir un nouvel échelon. "Yannick (Bru, coach de l'UBB, ndlr) l'avait prédit : un match sur deux, on ne joue pas à notre meilleur niveau, pestait Ugo Boniface. Il y a eu une belle réaction, mais ça ne suffit pas dans les matches comme ça." Lui et son équipe s'en souviendront longtemps.

L'UBB s'incline sur le fil face aux Harlequins, qui filent en demi-finale. Ce premier quart de finale de Champions Cup entre l'Union Bordeaux-Bègles et les Harlequins a tourné à l'avantage des Anglais (41-42). Complètement dominés en première période, les Bordelais ont su réagir en seconde période, mais une transformation manquée de Maxime Lucu leur a coûté la victoire. Les Quins attendent désormais leur adversaire, qui sera soit le Stade Toulousain, soit Exeter.
Après s'être imposés assez facilement en huitièmes face aux Saracens, les Girondins retrouvaient une autre équipe londonienne, les Harlequins, pour espérer se qualifier pour leur deuxième demi-finale de coupe d'Europe. Sous le soleil ardent de Chaban-Delmas, les hommes de Yannick Bru ont eu énormément de mal à se mettre dans leur match. Dès la troisième minute, les locaux se sont fait surprendre par le demi de mêlée Will Porter, après avoir arrêté de jouer.
D'une efficacité affolante en première période, les Quins ont profité de leur seconde occasion dangereuse pour provoquer un en-avant volontaire de Matéo Garcia, et donc un essai de pénalité (9e). Alors en infériorité numérique, les Girondins ont su réagir, par l'intermédiaire de leur capitaine. Maxime Lucu a relancé son équipe suite à un ballon porté conquérant (20e).
L'attaque flamboyante de l'UBB s'est alors mise en route, inscrivant dans la foulée un deuxième essai pour revenir au score grâce à Romain Buros (26e). Mais les espoirs français n'ont pas duré, puisque le remplaçant de Danny Care, Will Porter, a continué son match sublime avec un deuxième essai sur contre (30e). Impressionnant dans la gestion du jeu, le demi de mêlée a illustré le réalisme de sa formation. Complètement relancés, les Anglais ont converti une nouvelle situation pour rentrer aux vestiaires avec un avantage de seize points (12-28).
Remotivés, les Bordelais ont entamé la seconde période de la meilleure des manières. Parfaitement lancé par Ugo Boniface, Nicolas Depoortere a pu aplatir en coin pour remettre les Girondins dans le match (43e). Puis cette seconde période est devenue complètement folle, chaque formation se rendant coup pour coup. Si l'attaque bordelaise a encore une fois fait le spectacle, ils sont tombés cette fois sur une attaque meilleure que la leur.
Les joueurs de Yannick Bru n'ont pas su contenir les offensives adverses, et la différence s'est faite sur l'efficacité. Après les essais d'Alex Dombrandt (58e), de Louis Bielle-Biarrey (60e), de Sam Riley (68e) et de l'intenable Tyrone Green (73e), Madosh Tambwe s'est offert un doublé dont un deuxième essai qui aurait pu être celui de la victoire, si Maxime Lucu n'avait pas manqué sa transformation face aux poteaux. C'est cruel pour l'UBB, mais c'est la loi du sport.
